5 Coffee Milk Alternatives You Should Be Using
Dairy-free alternatives to Cows milk are becoming more and more popular. Whether you are vegan, lactose intolerant, on a health kick or just want to try something different, the numbers don’t lie – alternatives to milk are increasing in popularity.
It’s well known that properly texturising milk alternatives can be tricky and this has lead to the development of a number of products specifically designed for the Barista Coffee market.
Heres a rundown of what we think are the best milk alternatives to be using in your coffee business…
1. ALPRO – ‘For professionals’ – Soya Milk
ALPRO is one of the most recognisable brands of dairy-free milk alternatives on the market and their specially formulated Soya milk for professionals is our first suggestion for those wanting a workable milk alternative that yields a stable micro-foam texture. Flavour wise Soya is not our favourite but this is a great
2. CALIFIA FARMS – Barista Blend – Almond Milk
Again specially formulated for Barista’s and to produce textured steamed milk for better pouring and latte art. We prefer the flavour to Soya but did get mixed results when heating to higher temperatures.
3. OATLY – BARISTA EDITION – Oat Milk
Probably our favourite. This is based on liquid oats which means it isn’t overly sweet or excessively heavy. What it is, though, is fully foamable putting you in total control over the density and performance of your foam so you can showcase your latte art skills.
4. BLUE DIAMOND – ALMOND BREEZE – Almond Milk
A longer lasting UHT Blend of Spring Water and Almonds Rich & creamy. Created for use by professionals.
5. ALPRO – ‘For Professionals’ – Coconut Milk
For us a better flavour than Soya again but less neutral than almond milk – a nice alternative but tasting very much of coconuts!
And there you have it – a selection of quality dairy-free milk alternatives to offer customers quality well presented Flat Whites, Cappuccinos, Lattes and any other ‘milky coffees’. An increasingly popular option and one you need to be offering!
