PSSR Checks & Inspections
A Written Scheme of Examination is a statutory requirement for any pressure system within scope of the Pressure System Safety Regulations 2000.
WHAT IS it?
If you have a commercial coffee machine that uses pressurised steam then it’s essential that you have a PSSR (Pressured Steam Safety Regulations) check carried out regularly. The PSSR inspection is a thorough safety inspection of the pressurised vessel and valves to ensure your commercial coffee machine’s in tip top condition and is safe to use.
WHY DO I NEED A PSSR CHECK?
A PSSR Inspection ensures that you are meeting your legal obligation to comply with the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (2000) and also protects your visitors and team from accidents that can occur when machines are left unmaintained. Failure to have your machine PSSR checked regularly may also invalidate your liability insurance.
WHAT DOES A PSSR CHECK INCLUDE?
One of our CoffeeSafe qualified and approved Engineers will visit your premises where they will carry out a fully functional pressure test of the steam boiler safety valve, as well as an internal and external check of the steam boiler.
The Engineer will strip the machine down, before draining the boiler and removing the heating element. They will then inspect the boiler and valve thoroughly inside and out, before reassembling the coffee machine. The machine will then be tested again at full pressure to complete the inspection.
The boiler examination specifically checks for any corrosion and points of weakness. Once your check is complete and we are satisfied with the condition of your machine, we will provide you with an CoffeeSafe pdf document of certification. This document is called a written scheme of examination.
